With the roots based in the traditions of Korean music, the program fosters competency training in various instruments, vocal, and composition. The Korean Music Program strives to develop by adapting to the trends of world music. Practical training is provided for the various instruments and in the various styles of singing. Students are encouraged to explore art making and collaborations with other disciplines. The program’s mission is to modernize Korean music, so that it may have its place on the world music stage.

APPLIED MUSIC

Fostering the World’s Finest Musicians

The Applied Music Program’s training is rooted in Korea’s traditional music and encourages pioneering in new media to establish a unique musical identity. Students are trained to be musicians in the ever expanding fields television, media, film, advertising, performance, and musicals. The Applied Music Program is divided into 4 major subspecialties, song, composition, performance, and electronic(sound design and dj-ing). Graduates have become singers, composers, lyricists, arrangers, and session musicians.
